Community Bank in Connecticut Achieves Human Capital Management Agility with UltiPro® Workplace

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), the leading provider of unified, end-to-end human capital management (HCM) SaaS solutions in North America, announced today that Rockville Bank, a community bank in central Connecticut with $1.6 billion in assets, is optimizing its HR operations and unifying its HCM processes with UltiPro Workplace.

Previously, Rockville Bank was using separate HR and payroll solutions—creating a range of challenges with reporting, data integrity, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the disparate systems did not provide the full scope of HCM features that the bank’s HR team needed to deliver strategic results across every part of the organization. To enhance HR’s effectiveness, Rockville Bank selected UltiPro and went live in January 2010. Today, the bank is benefiting from:

  • Consolidated workforce information across multiple components of the organization
  • Reduced paper consumption as a result of employee and manager self-service on the Web
  • Enhanced insight into employee development with UltiPro’s performance management feature

Before UltiPro, Rockville Bank had been using multiple databases and applications for its HCM. The HR team would enter data into two places—increasing the likelihood of errors and making consolidated reporting a challenge. Identifying and reporting on HCM metrics required extra time and energy from the HR team in order to ensure that a final report’s data was accurate. Now with UltiPro, HR has one central location for information and can quickly provide business insight through HR metrics. With UltiPro’s unified design, HR, payroll, and benefits information is entered only once. No reconciliation is required, and any approved HR or payroll changes made to UltiPro are immediately available for reporting.

"Both the HR team and our employees are experiencing the benefits of having a single-source solution for unified HCM,” said Anne McConnell, assistant vice president and human resources officer for Rockville Bank. "UltiPro’s business intelligence tools provide multi-dimensional, drill-down capabilities that give our end users the ability to view employee data from various perspectives. Everyone on our team knows how to quickly find information, and the solution provides us with new accountability, visibility, and control.”

As part of an industry that is paper-intensive, Rockville Bank has a number of green initiatives in place to reduce its carbon footprint. McConnell is using UltiPro to support the company’s environmental objectives by migrating many documents and paper-based processes to electronic workflow. For example, with UltiPro, Rockville Bank stopped printing and distributing hundreds of pay stubs each pay period that had been shipped to each of the bank’s 22 locations.

"UltiPro fully complements our company’s green initiatives. Our employees can view their pay history, update their personal information, and modify their direct deposit choices without any paper involved or any requirements for our HR staff to manually enter data,” said McConnell. "We will continue to save both trees and dollars by moving away from as much paper possible.”

For 15 years, Rockville Bank had been relying on a cumbersome, paper-based process for performance management. The company is transitioning to UltiPro for talent management and company leadership already appreciates the change.

"Our managers love that they can now set goals and make notes on employee performance without having to find or pull an employee file. UltiPro is very easy to access and very easy to use,” said McConnell. "We got what we were seeking from UltiPro and much more.”

"By using a single solution for end-to-end HCM, Rockville Bank is taking efficiencies to the next level, heightening the strategic performance of the HR team, and facilitating better decision-making,” said Chris Phenicie, senior vice president for UltiPro Workplace. "We’re pleased that UltiPro Workplace is helping this organization transform and elevate the value that human capital management can deliver.”
