Cognos Wins IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Award For Innovation That Matters In Government
Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business
intelligence and performance
management solutions, today announced it has been named winner of
the "Innovation that Matters in Government”
award in the annual IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Awards competition, which
recognizes IBM Business Partners for their ingenuity, innovation,
customer satisfaction and outstanding achievements in providing
on-demand business solutions.
Together, Cognos and IBM are delivering a state-of-the-art crime
analysis solution that can help police agencies drastically reduce
crime. To improve crime prevention police agencies must understand the
data they collect, but the volume of information from multiple systems
is difficult to coordinate effectively. In response, Cognos and IBM
developed the Crime Information Warehouse, designed to provide
integrated mapping of departmental data across different systems into a
single source of actionable information that better addresses policing
needs.
Leveraging DB2, WebSphere, Tivoli Storage Manager, System p and IBM
Global Services integration and customization services, the Crime
Information Warehouse enables police departments to report, analyze, and
understand crime statistics in near-real time. It delivers fast results,
consistent information across departments, user-friendly interface for
easy adoption, enabling faster and higher quality responses to crime
trends and deployment requirements.
IBM Beacon Award judges remarked that Cognos "has
delivered an excellent solution to meet the specific needs and
requirements of police departments while helping solve an important
challenge these organizations face.”
"Recognized by the Beacon Awards, Cognos has worked closely with IBM and
its Business Partners to provide clients with innovative solutions that
solve real business issues," said Ravi Marwaha, general manager, IBM
Global Business Partners. "Cognos has set the
standard for business excellence by delivering unique solutions as well
as high customer satisfaction."
"Cognos is pleased to be recognized for the
innovative solutions that stem from our strategic alliance with IBM,”
said Rupert Bonham-Carter, associate vice-president of strategic
technology alliances, Cognos. "We will
continue to work with IBM to deliver joint business solutions to enable
