Church & Dwight Q2 Profit Up, Beats Estimates, Affirms FY13 View - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Church & Dwight Co., Inc, (CHD), a maker of household, personal care, and specialty products, Friday, reported an increase in second-quarter net income, reflecting higher revenues, primarily from global domestic and international consumer businesses which forms about 90 percent of the total sales. Earnings per share exceeded analysts estimates by a penny. The company also confirmed its full-year earnings outlook.
For the three-month period, the company reported net income of $86.6 million or $0.61 per share, compared with $79.3 million or $0.56 during the same period last year.
On average, fifteen analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.60 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Net sales increased 13.1 percent to $787.6 million from prior year's $696.4 million. Analysts estimated the company to report revenues of $790.87 million. For the third quarter, the company expects to report earnings of about $0.73 per share, a 10.6 percent increase from last year's $0.66 per share. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.76 for the quarter. Compared to the prior year, the sales growth is expected to be about 11 to 12 percent.
For the full year, the company reaffirmed earnings expectations of $2.79 per share. Street estimates the company to report earnings of $2.80 per share for the year. Total reported net sales for the full year are expected to increase at close to a double-digit rate.
