Children's Medical Center Dallas Expands MARTTI(TM) Interpretation Services
Language Access Network, (OTCBB:LANW) (FWB:L9N), the leader
in video interpretation services, announced today that Children’s
Medical Center in Dallas, one of the largest pediatric healthcare
providers in the nation, with a licensed facility of 406 beds, is
expanding its service agreement beginning with Inpatient rooms on floors
B4 and B6.
Under the agreement, Language Access Network will provide video/audio
interpretation service in 150 languages, including American Sign
Language (ASL) for the Deaf and Hard-Of- Hearing.
The service, known as MARTTI™ (My Accessible
Real-Time Trusted Interpreter), will be available to patients for free
24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Children’s
Medical Center Dallas will be charged a per-minute fee based upon the
interpretation time used.
Language Access Network estimates an average of 20% of all patients in
the U.S. are Limited English Proficient, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, or do
not speak English well. LAN estimates that each patient encounter in a
hospital environment, ER, Labor and Delivery, Clinic, etc. lasts between
7-12 minutes of time on the MARTTI™ unit, with
a cost range of $1.75- $2.95 per minute.
All institutions receiving federal money are required through the
American Disabilities Act and Civil Rights Act to provide interpretation
services free of charge to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and limited English
proficient patients. MARTTI™ will help Naples
Community Hospital comply with ADA, JCAHO, and HIPAA regulations.
