That corporate practice and philosophy was illustrated in the Pinellas County area recently.

Management and staff of the Champions Mortgage Seminole team, including President Adam Zima, Heather Zima, Mike Wagner, Bob Scarpetta and Mikhal Dudenkov, teamed up on November 27 with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County on a project that involved carefully removing fixtures, cabinets and countertops from a condominium in St. Petersburg, then transporting and turning the assets over to Habitat's re-store where they will be repurposed and resold to help fund the charitable organization's numerous projects.

"Delicately demoing the fixtures to preserve their value was slow going at first," commented Zima. "But by the end of the day, we had accomplished more than we expected.  Champions Mortgage and its staff were more than eager to give back to an organization that does so much for its community."

It's been a busy period of mixing business and community involvement for the Champions Mortgage Seminole Team.  The Mortgage Bank division of parent company Community Champions recently received the J.A.G Award from Going The Distance Adventure Ministry.  The J.A.G. award is accorded by the non-profit to the person or organization which has positively impacted the ministry the most during the past year and helped it sustain and grow its mission.

Doug Garner, the leader of the ministry, has first-hand experience with how giving back while conducting business is a win-win situation for all involved.  The Zimas recently assisted Garner in securing a home loan through Champions Mortgage to base his ministry out of.  Garner took to social media to express what securing the mortgage did for him and the ministry with a Facebook post.

"I'm a first-time homeowner and Champions Mortgage LLC not only went the distance in their service, care and expertise for me, they went the extra mile!  They turned my need to buy a home into a dream come true that I wake up to everyday.  I'm forever grateful to Adam and Heather Zima and the Champions team for all they did to get me into my forever home.  Thank you so much Champions."

Tom Darnell, Managing Director of Community Champions, commented the award and volunteer actions of the Champions Mortgage Seminole team was in keeping with many of the overall objectives of the parent company.

"I'm very proud of our Mortgage Bank division of Community Champions," he said.

"But I'm even more proud of the willingness of our family of employees who give back to the communities they service.  This is directly in line with the Community Champions overall mission to empower individuals, businesses and government entities to form productive partnerships that bring about positive acts and actions in their neighborhoods and communities."

Darnell added, "We look forward to extending this same type of positive business model that marries business with community service through our newly opened Champions Mortgage Office in Jacksonville, (FL), where another of our business subsidies, PROCHAMPS, has worked in a partnership with the city since 2011."

PROCHAMPS are experts in partnering with local governments to manage licensing/registration of rental, foreclosure and vacant properties.

It is among the constellation of business divisions under the Community Champions umbrella which focuses on helping communities champion themselves by bringing together the collective resources of government, business, private and charitable partnerships.
