Cegedim Relationship Management Uncovers that 68% of Life Sciences Executives Plan to Invest in Outsourced Databases
Cegedim Relationship Management today announced the release of its thought leadership report, EU Life Sciences 2013: Key Perspectives on Customer Databases, which provides stakeholders’ insights on data management expectations, sentiments and trends.
Key Trends on Customer Data Usage, Values and Quality
Client
targeting (90%), market research (68%), and territory management &
investment allocation (81%) remain the key triggers for the use of
customer databases. Respondents most value databases that are accurate
(82%), flexible (65%), fresh (64%), and offer wide coverage (58%).
Superior data quality has a broadly positive effect, especially in sales
(99%), marketing (98%), communication (85%) and strategy (76%). Yet, the
effect of poor data is more far-reaching across the enterprise, with the
top-three affected aspects being communication costs (91%), commercial
operations (88%) and business opportunities (85%).
"The 2013 EU survey illustrates that companies are looking for more comprehensive, intelligent, and up-to-date customer databases due to the increasing complexity of today’s data,” said Esther van Hulten, Senior Vice President of the Global OneKey Customer Insights Division of Cegedim Relationship Management. "As a result of the larger role that data now plays in business operations, it is imperative to have a well structured database that enables the aggregation and consolidation of all of a company’s interactions and spend at a unique healthcare professional level.”
Data Management Outsourcing and Investments
In the last two
years, the trend to outsource data management activities continues to
grow (53% versus 47% in 2011). This trend may signal that companies are
coming to understanding that it is becoming too problematic to collect
and maintain data internally. When it comes to future investments, those
surveyed are less likely to devote resources to internal database
management (59%) because the most challenging aspect of internal data
management remains the matching of all sources, and establishment of a
unique identifier for each healthcare practitioner (61%).
