Canadian Stocks Flat, Gold Companies Shine -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks fought back from early losses to finish slightly negative Thursday, following yesterday's steeep decline.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 8.69 points, or 0.06 percent, to 13,817.32.
Energy stocks were a bit weaker. WTi light sweet crude oil for June was down $1.26 at $46.93 a barrel.
Gold stocks rose 2.7 percent on the precious metal's safe haven appeal.
In corporate news, Onex Corp has revived an auction for Carestream Health, according to reports.
Pacific Exploration & Production Corp said its board was in favor of a restructuring proposal submitted by Catalyst Capital Group.
