Launched in 1950, the Premier Print Awards attract entries from around the world. A panel of judges scrutinize thousands of entries and this year Canada brought home 8 Benny awards.
While print awards are bestowed for merit and recognition, the highly sought-after Benny award is to print what the Oscars are to film.
With 112 categories, the following five Canadian organizations were presented with this prestigious award:
- Hemlock Printers Ltd. (Vancouver)
- PDI (Montreal)
- Rhino Print Solutions (Calgary)
- Ryerson University (Toronto)
- Webcom (Toronto)
The Webcom win for the Digital Print category (Juvenile Books) was for the printing of These Hands. This title, published by Excelovate, is the result of international collaboration. The writer, Shawn Pendenque, resides in Canada; the illustrator, Honey-Pearl Pelaez, is based in the Philippines; while layout designer, Justine Elliott, lives in New Zealand.
"We are so proud of Webcom. They did a great job printing our book. Their ability to seamlessly print complex color designs really enhanced our story, illustrations, and layout. What a great honour for Webcom and our entire team" says Excelovate CEO, Claudette McGowan.
These Hands is a children's book for kids ages 2 - 5. It tells colourful stories that are fun, educational, and encourage the use of imagination.
