Biosev announces the conclusion of the 2016/17 crop year and its guidance for the 2017/18 crop year

SAO PAULO, April 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Biosev S.A. (BM&FBOVESPA: BSEV3), the world's second largest sugarcane processor, announces the conclusion of the 2016/17 crop year and its guidance for the 2017/18 crop year.

In 2016/17 crop year, the Company achieved a crushing volume of 31.5 million tons and Cane TRS of 129.0 kg/ton. Total production measured by Total TRS came to 4,068 thousand tons, up 3% from 2015/16, while capacity utilization rose 1.6 percentage point to 87%.

Note that the crushing volume of 31.5 million tons is 1.9% higher than in the previous crop year and the highest of the last 6 crop years. This performance is explained by the improvements implemented in the management of the cane fields and the increase in average yield measured by Tons of Cane per Hectare (TCH), which stood at 77.9 ton/ha, 2.3% higher than in the previous crop year. Furthermore, reflecting the disciplined execution of the plan for improving sugarcane varieties and the adoption of best agricultural practices, Cane TRS reached 129.0 kg/ton, increasing 1.2% from the 2015/16 crop year.

At Biosev's mills located in Brazil's Center-South, TCH reached 83.0 ton/ha, growing 2.6%, while Cane TRS was 128.7 kg/ton, increasing 1.0% from the previous season.
