Bay Street Losing Skid Ends, Energy Stocks Jump -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Rebounding energy stocks boosted the Canadian market on Monday, as concerns about supply interruptions from the Middle East fueled a rise in oil prices.
With geopolitical tensions mounting, the S&P/TSX Composite Index jumped 242.10 points, or 1.85%, to 13,317.52.
The advance ended an 8-day losing streak.
Energy stocks jumped 4.5 percent, trimming last week's losses. Financial stocks added 1.5 percent, while consumer staples were up 3.5 percent.
SNC-Lavalin Group (SNC.TO) rose 4.5 percent. The company announced that it has realigned its business processes, brands and market strategy.
