BATS 1000 Index Posts 0.7% Gain This Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BATS Global Markets, a leading operator of securities markets in the U.S. and Europe, reports the BATS 1000^® Index (Ticker: BATSK) edged slightly higher this week to close at 19,261.26 as of the 4 p.m. ET market close today.

Nine out of 10 sectors posted gains, led by Utilities with a 2.3% increase, followed by Industrials and Manufacturing with 1.3% and Financials with 1.2%. Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals declined this week by 0.3%.

The BATS 1000 Index offers a listings-neutral, broad snapshot of the U.S. equities marketplace by tracking the performance of 1,000 securities classified in 10 important industry sectors. The 10 index sectors are adjusted to an equal weighting based on the current value of the index every June during an annual reconstitution process.
