Barnes & Noble To Offer Wine, Beer

(RTTNews) - Bookstore chain Barnes & Noble Inc. will serve wine and beer in a comeback effort. The company created a new restaurant group, and will add four new eateries to its book stores that offer fine food and beverages.

The retail book seller and multi-channel content distributor has been trying for a transformation through sale of gifts, toys, etc.

The stores with eateries will be coming up at Eastchester, New York, Galleria Edina in Edina, Minnesota., the Palladio at Broadstone mall in Folsom, California, One Loudoun in Loudoun County Virginia. The Estchester store will be opened in October.

Reducing NOOK losses, the company had recorded a growth in third quarter core comparable store sales. Adult coloring books, Toys & Games, music and gift business positively influenced Barnes & Noble results.

The company operates 640 retail bookstores in 50 states.

On Thursday, the company projected full year 2017 comparable bookstore sales, flat with guidance or an increase of around one percent, expecting Core comparable store sales growth of 0.4 percent. After a fall on Wednesday, the shares of Barnes & Noble showed a strong move back on Thursday. The shares are currently up 7.85 percent in pre-market trading at $11.26.
