Avnet Tech Games Winners Show Innovative Thinking and Technical Skills
More than 150 students from Arizona colleges and universities
vied for top honors in Avnet, Inc.’s
(NYSE:AVT) third annual Avnet
Tech Games on April 5, 2008, applying what they are learning in
school to real-work scenarios in an effort to earn scholarships. A panel
of judges that included executives from local technology firms,
engineers and technical experts selected the winners based on their
ability to meet the technical requirements of the task, innovative
approaches to the solution and demonstrated professional skills.
Fifty-six student teams from Arizona State University, the University of
Advancing Technology and the Maricopa Community Colleges competed in the
event.
This annual multidisciplinary technology competition is composed of nine
separate events and requires students to work in teams and on their own
to test their knowledge, creativity, decision-making, problem-solving
