Avnet Electronics Marketing, Analog Devices and Micron Technology Introduce Second Generation Digital Video Surveillance Kit
Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc.
(NYSE: AVT), in conjunction with Analog
Devices and Micron
Technology, Inc., announces the release of an updated development
kit that simplifies the design of video surveillance applications. The
second generation Digital Video Surveillance Kit is available
exclusively from Avnet and features Ethernet networking capabilities and
streaming video.
The second generation of the Digital Video Surveillance Kit provides a
simplified prototype development platform for intelligent video
surveillance applications – combining the
unique video handling capabilities of the Blackfin®
processor from Analog Devices and state-of-the-art complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor
(CMOS) image sensors from Micron Technology. In addition to helping
developers combine control and signal processing with CMOS image sensors
to analyze digital video for motion detection, threat analysis, and
alerting capability, the kit also includes 10/100BASE-T Ethernet for IP
camera applications.
One year ago, Avnet, Analog Devices and Micron Technology released the
first generation Digital Video Surveillance Kit. "Since
then, we have had great success with sales of the kit on a worldwide
basis and used it to train several hundred customers during our Analog
Devices Embedded Processing SpeedWay Design Workshops,”
said Rafael Cruz, vice president of design services for Avnet
Electronics Marketing. "The incorporation of
Ethernet and streaming capabilities into the updated kit further
enhances the designer’s ability to rapidly
prototype digital video applications in a cost effective and efficient
way.” "Networking and streaming video capabilities
are two critical requirements for next generation video surveillance
applications,” said Stephen Daly, channel
marketing director for DSP and embedded products at Analog Devices. "Leveraging
the advanced feature set of the Blackfin -- a powerful, customizable,
low-cost processor -- we are able to provide customers a simplified
prototype development platform.” "These development kits support the full line
of Micron surveillance image sensor offerings, ranging from Video
Graphics Array (VGA) to 5 Megapixel,” said
Qiang Li, Micron Imaging senior platform marketing manager. "The superior
image performance of Micron’s image sensor
solutions is well suited for video surveillance applications, as is our
targeted feature set—a high dynamic range
sensor with range in excess of 100 dB is available with the Avnet kit.”
Each kit includes a Central Processing Unit (CPU) baseboard, one Micron
image sensor headboard and an evaluation copy of VisualDSP++ software
development tools for $670. For more information, please visit: http:/em.avnet.com/adi-vsk.
