Atmel Q1 Results Top Estimate

(RTTNews) - Atmel Corp. (ATML) reported net income for the first quarter of $2.2 million or $0.01 per share, compared to a net loss of $47.7 million or $0.11 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the first quarter was $29.1 million or $0.07 per share, compared to $13.6 million or $0.03 per share in the prior year quarter.

Revenue for the first quarter grew 2% to $337.4 million from $329.1 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.06 per share on revenue of $326.03 million for the first quarter.
