ATG Enhances Automated Recommendations Engine; Number of Recommendations Served Grows More than 400% Year-Over-Year
ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc., NASDAQ: ARTG), the premier provider of cross-channel commerce solutions, today introduced the Spring 2010 release of ATG Recommendations and ATG Email Recommendations, the company’s automated merchandising solutions, at the 2010 Internet Retailer Conference. The new releases, available today, satisfy growing demand among ATG customers for more direct, live control over recommendations and deeper integration with existing e-commerce assets like the catalog, customer profiles, search, and inventory management.
ATG Recommendations is seeing rapid growth and increased traction as evidenced by a 400 percent yearly growth of Recommendations served across leading retail Web sites, mobile sites and email marketing campaigns. Recent ATG Recommendations customer wins and expansions include Autozone, J.Jill, Kalahari, LeapFrog, Sur La Table, Talbots, and Tommy Hilfiger.
With ATG Recommendations and ATG Email Recommendations, online retailers can now deliver a more personalized, relevant, and engaging shopping experience by applying automated merchandising strategies across channels. A new, Flash-based, self-service management interface allows merchants to manage their online catalog available for recommendations and apply flexible business rules to slots on the live site and in email campaigns – all without changing page code. Value-added testing and analysis – delivered via ATG’s Optimization Services team for all customers, helps retailers optimize the performance of recommendations and make more informed merchandising decisions.
ATG Recommendations and ATG Email Recommendations now offer the widest set of merchant-control and integration capabilities including a set of new and enhanced features:
- New - Dynamic Recommendations Rules: An industry first, dynamic recommendations rules allow merchants to use dynamic customer and behavioral information – including a visitor’s profile, search behavior, loyalty status, or color or size selection preference – to make more personal, predictive recommendations. For example, if a shopper selects specific facets in a site search, such as brand or price range, ATG Recommendations can be directed to only show only other products within that brand or price range.
- New - Automated, Personalized Ensembles: Retailers can now automatically merchandise personalized ensembles for each shopper by applying multiple rules within a single recommendation set. Each recommendations slot on a page is dynamically filled with the most relevant products from a designated set of categories, brands, styles, or collections are chosen.
- New - Flash-based Business Management User Interface: Online merchants can now easily manage recommendations on the live site and view predictive analytics via a rich, self-service interface. Catalog and inventory changes can be made in real-time, rules can be applied to live slots on the page, sample recommendations can be previewed live, and real-time co-browse and co-buy analytics can be viewed for any product in the catalog.
- Enhanced Inventory-based Refinement: Retailers can control what recommendations are shown by manually or automatically adjusting inventory levels for each product. Direct integration with inventory systems enables near real-time inventory management of recommendations to increase profits and avoid recommending out of stock products.
Other enhancements include enhanced relevancy "scoring” capabilities to raise the likelihood that certain catalog items will be recommended, enhanced search-aware recommendations, enhanced price-based refinements, and better integration with Web analytics suites.
Scott Roth, ExactTarget’s senior director of partnerships and alliances, a provider of email marketing software, services and solutions, praised the user friendliness of ATG Recommendations.
"Retailers are increasingly incorporating product recommendations into their email marketing to drive higher engagement and provide more relevant content for their customers,” Roth said. "ATG Email Recommendations integrated with ExactTarget provides a powerful, easy-to-use solution to deliver highly personalized product recommendations in both transactional and marketing emails based on the most recent behavioral data on each email recipient.”
"The demand we’re seeing for more fine-grained control and integration with existing e-commerce assets signifies that retailers are moving beyond the first stage of recommendations – basic cross-sells – and applying more sophisticated automated merchandising strategies across their shopping experiences,” said Ryan Hoppe, Product Marketing Director for ATG Recommendations. "With ATG’s deep understanding of retail and e-commerce, and our complete commerce suite, we’re the right choice for serious online sellers who understand recommendations should not be a point solution but part and parcel to their next-generation e-commerce platforms.”
ATG Recommendations is part of ATG Optimization, an integrated set of platform-neutral, on-demand commerce optimization solutions designed to help online businesses quickly and measurably grow revenue, boost loyalty, and unlock profits and insight.
