AT&T- DirecTV Deal May Be Announced Monday: Bloomberg

(RTTNews) - Telecom giant AT&T Inc. (T) may announce an agreement to acquire satellite-TV company DirecTV (DTV) by May 19, Bloomberg reported, quoting a person familiar with the matter.

The two parties are said to have progressed on key structures of the transaction in recent days. According to the report, boards of both companies are scheduled to vote tomorrow on the terms of the deal.

Reports had said early this month that AT&T is in talks to buy DirecTV in a cash-and-stock deal that could close in two weeks.

The deal is said to value DirecTV at about $50 billion. The acquisition will give AT&T a national satellite-TV provider for combining its U.S. wireless service and phone as well as high-speed Internet offerings.
