ArcBest Posts Profit In Q1 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Freight transportation services provider ArcBest Corp. (ARCB) Monday reported first-quarter net income of $0.7 million or $0.03 per share compared to a net loss of $5.2 million or $0.20 per share in the prior-year quarter.

Excluding pension settlement charges, net income was $1.4 million or $0.06 per share compared to a net loss of $2.9 million or $$0.11 per share last year. On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.10 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue rose 6 percent to $613.3 million from $577.9 million. Analysts expected revenues of $621.27 million.

According to the company, revenue growth and a positive pricing environment at ABF Freight resulted in improved operating margins.
