Analysis Shows Substantial Peripheral Nerve Repair Market in US
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A new study from Magellan Medical Technology Consultants, Analysis of the Peripheral Nerve Repair Market in the United States, reveals the U.S. market for Peripheral Nerve Repairs is 1.32 to 1.93 billion dollars per year.

In developing the report, Magellan conducted primary research with nerve repair surgeons and incorporated analysis of publicly available emergency room and reimbursement data to determine the size of the peripheral nerve injury repair market for transected nerves in the United States.
It was discovered that newer technologies such as processed nerve allograft, which offer the scaffolding of human nerve tissue without creating additional morbidity caused by harvesting nerve elsewhere on the patient, have begun to expand the list of tenable options in peripheral nerve repair.
"Nerve repairs that were once considered off-limits due to the complexity or severity of the injury may be back on the table for discussion," stated Kurt Brattain, MD, a data scientist/statistician and board certified Family Medicine physician with Magellan Medical.
"The determination of market size in an evolving market requires building on the market's know aspects with information about the adoption and incorporation of process changing philosophies that convey confidence about its conclusion," said Dr. Brattain.
