Ameriprise Results Top Estimate

(RTTNews) - Diversified financial services company Ameriprise Financial Inc (AMP) Tuesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $420 million or $2.17 per share compared with $382 million or $1.86 per share last year.

Excluding items, operating earnings for the quarter were $2.10 per share compared with $1.91 per share a year ago.

Net revenues for the quarter rose to $3.11 billion from $2.81 billion in the prior year, and operating revenues to $2.9 billion from $2.7 billion.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.96 per share on revenues of $3.06 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

At the end of the quarter, the company's total assets under management grew 8 percent from a year ago to $797 billion.
