American Financial Group Profit Advances In Q4

(RTTNews) - American Financial Group (AFG) announced earnings for its fourth quarter that gained ground compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line totaled $283 million, or $2.20 per share. This was higher than $266 million, or $1.98 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.68 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 4.0% to $1.81 billion. This was up from $1.74 billion last year.
