American Capital Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - American Capital Agency Corp (AGNC) on Monday reported second-quarter net earnings of $505 million or $1.43 per share compared with $27 million or $0.08 per share last year.

Excluding "catch-up" premium amortization benefit/(cost), the company's net spread and dollar roll income was $0.60 per share for the latest quarter.

Net interest income for the quarter was $333 million compared with $290 million in the prior year.

Other gain for the quarter was $215 million versus a loss of $222 million in the prior year.

At the end of the quarter, the company had a net book value per common share of $24 compared with $26.26 last year.
