Aircraft Museum, Museum of Flying, Announces Summer Hours, Great Family Fun for Locals and Tourists
SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Museum of Flying is pleased to announce that its Summer Schedule begins this week as the Museum will be open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m.
The Museum features nearly two dozen different aircraft, ranging from a Wright flyer replica (the first aircraft to achieve controlled powered flight) to aircraft from the jet age, including a North American F-86 Sabrejet (America's first fighter jet to engage in aerial combat.) The Museum is also home to the California Aviation Hall of Fame, which displays exhibits on the early pioneers of the aviation industry along with many famous aviators.
The Museum is located at the historic Santa Monica Airport, which is one of the nation's oldest airports and will celebrate its centennial this year. The Museum houses many original artifacts from the Douglas Aircraft Company and personal effects of Donald W. Douglas, the Founder and President of the Douglas Aircraft Company. The Museum also has an extensive collection of original aviation art, photographs and many aviation exhibits. In addition, the Museum also has the Maxflight simulator that is capable of 360 degrees of pitch and roll. The Museum also features a screening room on the 2nd floor that plays feature aviation-related films and many aviation documentaries.
Admission to the Museum is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors/students, and $6 for children aged 3 to 12. Children under 3 are free. Group tours are available with advanced reservations. For more information, call 310-398-2500 or visit museumofflying.org.
