After-market Movers For May 8 (NWSA, GPS, MELI, CBS, FUEL, UBNT)
(RTTNews) - Gainers:
News Corp. (NWSA) gained 2 percent to $17.46. The company's third quarter earnings plunged from the prior year period, while its adjusted earnings per share topped Street view. Total revenues fell 5 percent reflecting foreign currency fluctuations, lower advertising revenues at the News and Information Services segment and the sale of the Dow Jones Local Media Group. News Corp. also announced the appointment of William Lewis as Chief Executive Officer of Dow Jones.
Gap, Inc. (GPS) was up 4 percent to $40.80. The company's April sales on a comparable store basis increased 9 percent, while sales increased 10 percent. The company's first quarter sales rose 1 percent and topped estimate. The company also forecast its first quarter earnings per share above Street view.
Mercadolibre, Inc. (MELI) gained over 7 percent to $89.50 after its first quarter adjusted earnings per share and revenues topped Wall Street view.
Decliners:
CBS Corp. (CBS) fell 2 percent to $56.50. The company's first quarter profit improved from the year-ago quarter, while revenues declined from the same period a year earlier. Advertising revenues were lower than in the prior year period. At the same time, the company expects the back half of 2014 to be stronger than the first half.
Rocket Fuel Inc. (FUEL) plunged 25 percent to $20.72. The company's first quarter net loss widened from the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the quarter surged 95 percent, but missed the consensus estimate. The company guided second quarter revenue below estimate and 2014 revenue in line with market view.
Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. (UBNT) fell 8 percent to $37.85 despite reporting third quarter results that topped analysts' estimates. The company forecast fourth quarter results in line with market view.
Jazz Pharmaceuticals (JAZZ) declined nearly 10 percent to $120.50. The company slipped to a loss in its first quarter and its adjusted earnings per share missed analysts' estimate. Total revenues increased 26 percent, but came below the consensus estimate.
