AeroVironment Loss Wider Than Estimates; Stock Down 6%

(RTTNews) - AeroVironment Inc (AVAV), the maker of unmanned aircraft systems, Wednesday reported first-quarter net loss of $3.6 million or $0.16 per share compared with a loss of $7.2 million or $0.32 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted loss for the quarter was $0.18 per share compared with $0.21 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were up 18 percent at $54.87 million compared with $44.1 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated a loss of $0.11 per share on revenues of $50.7 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking ahead to the full year 2015, the company expects revenues of $250 million to $270 million, while analysts expect $258.3 million.
