Aeropostale Reports Record September Sales Results
Aéropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO), a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today announced that total net sales for the five-week period ended October 4, 2008 increased 15% to $146.7 million, from $127.9 million for the five-week period ended October 6, 2007. The Company’s same store sales increased 5% for the month, compared to a same store sales increase of 1% in the year ago period.
Year to date, total net sales have increased 21% to $1.068 billion, from $883.2 million in the year ago period. Year to date, same store sales increased 10%, compared to essentially flat same store sales last year.
The Company reiterated its previously issued third quarter earnings guidance of $0.59 to $0.61 per share. This earnings guidance compares to earnings of $0.48 per share last year, representing an increase of approximately 23% to 27%.
