NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Aegis Energy Services, Inc., has begun installation of a Combined Heat and Power system at the Birchwood Towers residential complex in the prestigious Forest Hills area of New York City. The installation will consist of two Aegis PowerVerter CHP modules.

The PowerVerter provides a facility with everyday energy savings while remaining available as a standby generator in the event of a grid power failure. The PowerVerter is engineered to interface with utility area or spot networks, such as those found in parts of New York City and other cities in the Northeast.
Unlike stand-by generators, which are only activated in the event of a power outage, PowerVerter operates 24/7 throughout the year, in parallel with the grid, delivering continual energy savings from its advanced synchronous, inverter-based Combined Heat and Power technology.
The Aegis Energy Services, Inc. Combined Heat and Power systems will be installed in Birchwood Towers' Toledo Building and Kyoto Building. The units will provide heat for the hot water (DHW) loads for each building and will also pick up the pool heating load in the Toledo Building.
Aegis Energy's team of energy analysts were able to secure grant funding for both units through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) which has "pre-qualified" Aegis Energy Services and its PowerVerter system as grant-eligible.
Projected cost saving for the Birchwood Towers installation is over $120,000 annually.
Aegis Energy's Combined Heat and Power systems deliver two forms of energy- heat and electricity, from a single fuel source (natural gas). The high-efficiency CHP systems significantly reduce energy costs and harmful emissions, as recognized by the EPA.
