Advisory - Multiple "Dr. King's" homeopathic and "Natural Pet" veterinary products recalled due to potential microbial contamination
OTTAWA, Sept. 1, 2018 /CNW/ -
Issue
Health Canada is advising consumers and pet owners not to use homeopathic and veterinary products made by King Bio Inc. and labeled as "Dr. King's," "Dr King's Natural Pet" or "Natural Pet." These products may pose a health risk to people and pets, especially children, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems, because of potential microbial contamination. According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, high levels of microbial contamination were identified at the manufacturing site in Asheville, North Carolina.
The products are being recalled by the Canadian distributor, Ecotrend Ecologics Ltd., and include products for children, adults and pets. They are promoted for various uses, including flu relief, respiratory care, arthritis and joint pain, and stress control.

- Consumers and pet owners who have purchased or used these products, especially children, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems.

- Report adverse events to health products to Health Canada by calling toll-free at 1‑866‑234‑2345, or by reporting online, by mail or by fax.
- Report complaints about health products to Health Canada by calling toll-free at 1‑800‑267‑9675, or complete an online complaint form.

Health Canada is monitoring the company's recall and any necessary corrective and preventative actions. Health Canada continues to gather information about the type of microbial contamination found in these products and the potential risks this contamination could pose. Should additional safety information be identified, Health Canada will take appropriate action and inform Canadians.
Background
Ingesting a contaminated product may pose health risks. Children, the elderly and other people with a weakened immune system may be more susceptible to the more serious effects of infections.
