Advance Auto Parts Names Carl Hauch, Senior Vice President, Operations - West

Advance Auto Parts, Inc., (NYSE:AAP), a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories, and maintenance items, today announced Carl Hauch will join the company as Senior Vice President, Operations – West, effective June 23, 2008. Mr. Hauch will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to his area, which covers over 800 stores. Mr. Hauch will report to Ken Wirth, Senior Vice President, Customer Experience Officer. "With his more than 20 years of leadership experience, Carl has a strong, proven track record for achieving results. In addition, he has a passion for providing superior customer experiences, and motivating and encouraging Team Members to achieve outstanding results,” said Wirth. "We look forward to his leadership to drive our continued retail and commercial growth.” Prior to joining Advance, Mr. Hauch worked for Starbucks Coffee Company since 1994, where he held multiple positions with increasing responsibilities. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Operations where he was responsible for the strategic direction and profitability of 650 stores across nine states in the Mountain Region of the United States. Prior to that, he served as an International Managing Director and CEO for Starbucks in Switzerland and Austria where he was responsible for setting strategic direction and overseeing the turnaround of operations in both countries. Mr. Hauch attended the Rutgers Graduate School of Management and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Economics from Rutgers College.
