Adam Cooper, Citadel's Chief Legal Officer, To Retire After 18 Years of Service
CHICAGO, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Citadel today announced the retirement of Chief Legal Officer Adam C. Cooper effective the end of February 2017. Senior Deputy General Counsel Shawn Fagan has been named General Counsel of its hedge fund business.
Cooper was Citadel's first Chief Legal Officer and has played a pivotal role in realizing the firm's ambitions as a global financial institution over the past 18 years.

Shawn Fagan, who joined the firm as Deputy General Counsel in 2005, has been named General Counsel of Citadel's hedge fund business effective immediately. Prior to joining Citadel, Fagan served as a Partner at Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott, and previously served as a clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Shawn graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1994 and was a recipient of the Sears Prize.
