Acxiom® Wins Two National Database Excellence Awards
Acxiom® Corporation (NASDAQ: ACXM), a global leader in interactive marketing services, was recognized today for business-to-business and multichannel marketing excellence at the National Center for Database Marketing conference in Orlando.
An award for multichannel marketing was presented jointly to Acxiom and Alltel Wireless, owner and operator of America’s largest wireless network; and an award for business-to-business marketing jointly recognized Acxiom and Sybase, the largest enterprise software and services company exclusively focused on managing and mobilizing information. The recipients, selected by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and DIRECT magazine, were recognized during a luncheon at the NCDM 2008 Conference & Exhibition.
The Acxiom/Alltel award recognized the companies for an innovative customer intelligence solution that supported Alltel’s "My Circle” direct marketing campaigns. A daily customer lifecycle management engine automated customer communications and delivered relevant direct marketing messages at precise times in the customer lifecycle. The solution combined Acxiom’s data products and customer intelligence with Alltel Wireless’s customer data and prospect list for targeted segmentation based on actual customer behavior and real household composites.
"The market responded enthusiastically to Alltel’s ‘My Circle’ direct marketing campaigns, and overall direct customer communications have increased 285 percent,” said Tara Llewellyn, director of direct marketing for Alltel Wireless. "It’s an honor to be recognized for our hard work. We’re very excited to receive this recognition from NCDM.”
Using Acxiom’s solutions, Alltel Wireless’s direct marketing team now efficiently manages more than 300 direct marketing initiatives yearly, many of which feature automated customer lifecycle management (CLM) campaigns for direct mail, email, outbound voice and text messaging. Being able to target customers with more relevant communications has helped Alltel achieve several business objectives: increased adoption of new customers, enhanced customer relationships, improved customer retention and individual customer revenue growth.
"Alltel Wireless’s deployment of Acxiom’s customer lifecycle management solutions is an excellent case study that demonstrates the value of a robust, centralized, data-focused direct marketing campaign,” said Greg Hogue, Acxiom’s communications industry executive. The business-to-business marketing award went to Acxiom’s Alvion business unit and Sybase for enhancements to Alvion Technologies’ Web-enabled platform that enables compilers, resellers and managers of consumer marketing lists to quickly upload and deliver customized lists to end-users in support of targeted marketing efforts. Alvion was acquired by Acxiom in September 2008.
"Alvion needed a system that would execute ad hoc queries in real time and support extensive analytics on massive lists – all without incurring extensive overhead expenses and increased reporting times,” said Dan Lahl, director of Sybase Intelligent Enterprise Solutions. "Basing its platform on Sybase IQ, Alvion developed its system to provide the fastest response time across the largest data volumes to thousands of online users. The system now delivers added dimensions for complex analytics, while delivering lightning-fast response times.”
By delivering tailored list campaigns and query results, Alvion’s customers can develop highly targeted, profitable campaigns without incurring the expense and expertise of an internal IT shop. End-users can access the data online, design the reports and datasets they need, and have these results delivered to their desktop almost instantaneously.
"A query that previously took 52 minutes now takes three seconds,” said Gary Schmidt, Alvion’s technical unit leader. "Our load times were reduced by 50 percent with Sybase IQ.”
The companies selected for the NCDM Database Excellence Awards, which are judged by worldwide experts in database marketing, must achieve dramatic, measurable results by applying statistical techniques, leveraging systems capabilities or reorganizing to become more customer focused.
