Accenture Wins New Contract to Support New York City's Health and Human Services Connect Program
The New York City Department of Information Technology and
Telecommunications (DoITT) has awarded Accenture (NYSE: ACN) a new $79.6
million, three-year contract to provide technology and business process
support to the Health and Human Services Connect (HHS-Connect) program.
HHS-Connect is designed to leverage modern and flexible technologies to
improve service delivery to citizens, enable better accessibility and
management of information, and increase accountability. Under the new
contract – which includes two one-year renewal
options – Accenture will build out existing
systems and develop new systems to support the city’s
health and human services initiatives.
"The HHS-Connect program adopts a
citizen-centric, technology-driven approach that will continue to
transform the way the city delivers human services to residents,”
said Steve Hurst, managing director of Accenture’s
Public Service practice in New York. "We look
forward to supporting the city in its implementation of this expanded
HHS program and building on a successful partnership that resulted in
the development of ACCESS NYC, the first web-based, cross-agency
integrated screening tool for city.”
The new contract calls for Accenture to help support HHS-Connect through:
Developing an enterprise architecture for human services
Developing an enterprise case management capability that supports
agency-specific functions
Implementing new capabilities to accept online applications, and
determine eligibility and enrollment
Expanding the capabilities of the pre-screening application
Accenture was hired in 2005 to help design and build ACCESS NYC, the
award-winning online prescreening tool that enables New York City
residents to access 35 different city, state, and federal health and
human services programs through a single web portal. ACCESS NYC provides
New Yorkers with a single point, user-friendly system to access multiple
human services agencies in seven different languages. The significant
success of ACCESS NYC as a screening and eligibility tool provides the
basis for development of HHS Connect citywide.
Accenture designed ACCESS NYC using customized Cúram
software built exclusively for the social enterprise management market.
Accenture and Cúram have formed an alliance
agreement to work closely together to develop solutions that optimize
the use of Cúram’s
software, which specializes in the human services industry.
