A First: Film Fest Offers Feature Budget Prize

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- This Weekend (August 26-27) the fifteen years running 168 Film Festival at the Regal Cinemas Premiere House at L.A. LIVE at 1000 W Olympic Blvd, in downtown L.A. will screen over 60 short films and will then crown 9 finalists, who will prepare and pitch their feature ready-to-shoot scripts in October.  Only one will be chosen for funding. 8168 Films, LLC and Winter Star Productions will act as the studio overseeing the production.

The 168 Film Project started as a speed film contest where filmmakers from around the world create ten minute films all in one week (168 hours). It is now making feature films.

168 Festival Founder John David Ware says, "It's a filmmaker's dream.  This is what we envisioned since we started 168, becoming a micro studio to launch filmmakers."

This year at the film festival, in addition to the short films, 168 will showcase the West Coast Premiere of "Unbridled," a feature film directed by John David Ware. "Unbridled" will screen Saturday night at 7:00 PM.  It stars: T.J. Stallings (from the hit "War Room") and veteran actor Eric Roberts, and also introduces a very promising newcomer to the big screen, Tea McKay.  The film deals with the massive problem of human trafficking and the hope for healing through equine therapy. Warriors against trafficking are invited to see the film free of charge.

The 168 Film Festival runs all weekend and more information and tickets can be found at www.168film.com/tickets and also at the door. The Kids screening and Kids Red Carpet is Saturday morning from 9:00am-11:00am.  Short films screen all day Saturday and Sunday with an awards show Sunday night. Panavision will demo its groundbreaking DXL Millennium 8K digital camera Saturday at 4:20 PM and Panasonic will showcase their Varicam lineup Sunday at 12:30 PM.
