4th Annual Tampa Bay Veg Fest Brings Healthy, Family-Friendly Fun to Downtown Tampa

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tampa Bay area's only vegetarian/vegan festival returns to downtown TampaSaturday, October 19, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 4th Annual Tampa Bay Veg Fest is a free event featuring guest speakers; healthy living and eco-friendly vendors; a children's area; live music; films; animal adoptions and delicious vegan food.

Speaking at Veg Fest 2013 will be:

Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of HSN's topical, event-driven show Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell. Over the years she has opened viewers' eyes to many issues involving animal cruelty, including factory farming. She has received three Genesis Awards from the Humane Society of the United States.

Neal Barnard, MD, president of the nonprofit Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Dr. Barnard is a clinical researcher, an author, a health advocate and an adjunct professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Milton R. Mills, MD, PCRM's associate director of preventive medicine. He also practices outpatient clinic-based medicine in Northern Virginia, and works as a critical care physician in Fairfax, Virginia and Washington, DC.

Ellen Jaffe Jones, "The Veg Coach"—an inspiring motivational speaker, champion runner, personal trainer and running coach and the author of the best-selling book Eat Vegan on $4 a Day.

Robert Cheeke, a two-time natural bodybuilding champion, named by VegNews Magazine as one of the Most Influential Vegan Athletes.

George Eisman, director of nutrition for the Coalition for Cancer Prevention and a long-time registered dietitian.

Veg Fest will again be held at Cotanchobee Ft. Brooke Park in downtown Tampa. Parking is available in the adjacent South Regional Parking Garage at 301 Channelside Drive. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend.

Veg Fest is presented by Florida Voices for Animals, a Tampa Bay-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal-advocacy organization that raises awareness of animal issues and educates individuals about how to make compassionate choices for animals. FVA also provides information about plant-based diets as a way to improve health while helping animals and the environment.
