2019 VW Arteon offers better performance versus Malibu, Fusion

Even a high-level comparison of the 2019 VW Arteon versus 2018 Chevy Malibu reveals several interesting bits of information. The most glaring disparity between the two members of the midsize sedan class occurs with the cars' powertrain. Volkswagen has chosen a turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission.  

By comparison, the 2018 Malibu actually uses a larger 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. However, drivers of the 2019 Arteon has a peak output of 268 horsepower and the Malibu comes in under 165 horsepower.  

Additionally, all of the available trims for the new Arteon can be equipped with all-wheel-drive. 

The same advantages the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon has over the Malibu, the dynamic fastback sedan also demonstrates them against the 2018 Ford Fusion. Ford has provided the Fusion sedan with more performance than the Malibu, making 175 horsepower. VW owners will have an edge over the Fusion with the available technology options in the Arteon. Both sedans are compatible with Android- and Apple-based smartphone applications. However, the Arteon goes a step further with its Digital Cockpit Display that can be customized to display everything from navigation information to the statuses of various systems.
