South Korea Consumer Confidence Slips In August

(RTTNews) - Consumer confidence in South Korea ebbed in August, the Bank of Korea said on Friday with a Consumer Sentiment Index score of 109.9.

That's down from 111.2, although it remains above the 100-point level that separates optimists from pessimists.

Sentiments for current living standards and their future outlook were one and two points lower respectively than in July, at 94 and 102.

Sentiment as to future household income was unchanged at 103, while that for future household spending was one point higher at 109.

Consumer sentiment for current domestic economic conditions was three points below its July figure, at 93, and sentiment about the future outlook was five points lower than in July at 104.

The expectation for inflation over the following year was 2.6 percent.
