Zachys' Inaugural Washington D.C. Auction: 100% Sold, Realizing $5.4 Million

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zachys' inaugural Washington D.C. auction, held at Charlie Palmer Steak on October 27 and 28, was deemed a large success, nearing the pre-sale high estimate with $5,403,820 sold.

The two-day auction was filled with live bidders, as well as online and absentee bidders from the Far East, South America and Europe. Top lots included DRC Romanée-Conti, several lots of which set American auction records: three bottles of Romanée Conti 2012 (lot 988) sold for $41,820 and three bottles of the 2012 (lot 989) sold for $44,280. Twelve bottles of  Rousseau Chambertin 2010 (lot 1716) set a world auction record by selling for $34,440.

Additional lots of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti were top performers, with 45 lots realizing $525,087, surpassing the pre-auction high estimate of $444,500. A total of 717 lots, nearly half of the auction, sold above their pre-auction high estimates, and 49 lots sold for over $10,000.

In addition, as part of Zachys' California Strong initiative,  Zachys will donate $12,305, 100% of the buyer's premium from California lots sold, to California wildfire relief. The company as a whole reached their $25,000 goal, and all proceeds will be split amongst the three noted charities.
