vineyard vines Partners With United Service Organizations To Celebrate Giving Tuesday and Special Naval Submarine Homecoming

STAMFORD, Conn., Nov. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- vineyard vines, a brand best known for its whimsical neckties and smiling pink whale logo, announced today it will partner with the United Service Organizations (USO) as their charitable beneficiary for 'Giving Tuesday' on Tuesday, November 28. A portion of all sales today will go back to the USO. Additionally, vineyard vines will support the USO at a memorable Navy submarine homecoming on Wednesday, November 29. One hundred and thirty-five Naval Submariners will return home from deployment to a warm welcome by the USO and vineyard vines employee volunteers.

USO and vineyard vines will be pier side with more than 300 family members and friends for a long awaited reunion celebration in the brand's home state of Connecticut. Heartwarming and inspiring, the afternoon will include family activities, entertainment, lunch and games. To further celebrate the momentous day, vineyard vines will also be providing gifts to all families on-site.

The partnership with the USO stemmed from a recent internal vineyard vines initiative called the $10k Challenge in which employees had to work together to decide how they would spend $10,000, fifteen ideas were developed – from thoughtful donations to charitable partnerships, each group chose to pay it forward. The response was so powerful that founders, Shep and Ian Murray decided to fund every concept, including the idea to celebrate and show appreciation for our armed forces.

"We are truly honored to be able to partner with the USO and give back to our armed forces and their families," said Shep Murray, vineyard vines CEO & co-founder. "Philanthropy is a pillar of our brand, as well as our employees, and we couldn't be happier to support this organization." Ian Murray, vineyard vines CEO & co-founder adds, "Our troops, and their families, sacrifice so much for our country, especially during the holiday season. We are constantly inspired by their dedication and are excited to make this a memorable moment."

"We are thrilled to partner with vineyard vines, an iconic Connecticut company, and are so pleased to have their support pier side as we welcome home the submariners who have been on deployment supporting national security interests and maritime security operations," said Brian Whiting, President & CEO, USO Connecticut.
