Tentative Agreement Reached with Ontario Northland
NORTH BAY, ON, Feb. 18, 2019 /CNW/ - Unifor Local 103 has reached a tentative agreement with the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) to renew all five Unifor Agreements that expired on December 31, 2018.
"I want to congratulate our bargaining committee on their hard work in attaining a fair settlement during challenging times at ONTC," said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President.
Unifor represents more than 350 workers at Ontario Northland who work in a variety of classifications, including clerical, on-board passenger train service, yard office, stores, freight sheds, hotel staff and mechanical shop craft workers.
Ontario Northland is a provincial Crown agency of the government of Ontario.
"I am extremely proud of the work of or bargaining committee and the solidarity they showed during what was at times a stressful and difficult round of bargaining," said Local 103 President Andy Mitchell. "We worked very hard in the interests of our members and made some significant improvements."
The new agreements are subject to a ratification vote. Details will not be released until the agreement is presented to members.
