Rio Tinto Names Alfredo Barrios Chief Executive Of Its Aluminium Business

(RTTNews) - Rio Tinto plc (RTPPF.PK, RIO.L, RIO, RTNTF.PK) announced it has appointed Alfredo Barrios as chief executive of its Aluminium business. He will succeed Jacynthe Cote who will leave the business for personal reasons. Alfredo will assume the role on 1 June 2014 and join the Executive Committee. Jacynthe will continue in an advisory role until 1 September 2014 in order to ensure a smooth transition.

Alfredo Barrios joins the company from BP. Most recently, he was Executive Director and Executive Vice President Downstream at the joint venture TNK-BP. He joined BP in 1992 and has held senior leadership roles in the United Kingdom, United States, Russia and Continental Europe.
