Rilo Kiley & Lupe Fiasco Added to 2007 'mtvU Woodies' Performance Lineup

NEW YORK, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Adding to an already stellar assemblage of emerging and established acts dominating the college music scene, today mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, announced that two more acclaimed performers have joined the 2007 "mtvU Woodie Awards" bill: Rilo Kiley and Lupe Fiasco. Perennial college favorites Rilo Kiley are riding high off their recent breakout release "Under the Blacklight," and Lupe Fiasco is mounting an attack on the college charts with his brand new, red hot single, "Superstar." These acts will take the stage tonight at New York's Roseland Ballroom along with Tokyo Police Club, The Academy Is ... and Spank Rock to deliver knockout live performances to a crowd packed full of college students and their favorite emerging artists.

Now in their fourth year, the "mtvU Woodie Awards" are the only awards honoring the music college students live their lives to - and a launching pad where the stars of tomorrow are anointed by the prophets of new music. Presenters and attendees on hand for the seminal college music event will include Annie Lennox, Q-Tip, Gym Class Heroes, Peter and Bjorn, Talib Kweli, Tom Delonge and Dave Kennedy of Angels & Airwaves, Guster, EL-P, Say Anything, Boys Like Girls, Motion City Soundtrack, Cage, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Kidz in the Hall and other surprise guests.

The monster night of live music will kick off with Secondhand Serenade (singer-songwriter John Vesely) delivering a special acoustic performance at an exclusive Woodies pre-party, sponsored by Citi, taking place at Spotlight Live in Times Square just hours before the main show begins. World renowned dj RJD2 will then get the party started at Roseland, spinning a mix of Woodie- nominated artists and songs for the college crowd as the start of the 2007 "mtvU Woodie Awards" draws near. All this will set the stage for a memorable concert event and awards show with college students in front of the camera and behind the scenes, presenting, introducing and honoring their favorite music and acts.

The 2007 "mtvU Woodie Awards" will premiere simultaneously on mtvU and mtvU.com Thursday, November 15th at 8pm ET. MTV will debut a special 30 minute version of the 2007 "mtvU Woodies" Saturday, November 17th at 10pm ET / PT. The special will have an encore run on MTV2 November 18th at 12:30am ET / PT.

Top nominees for the 2007 "mtvU Woodie Awards" include The Shins, with three nominations, and Modest Mouse, Gym Class Heroes, Lily Allen, Justice, Linkin Park and The Academy Is ... , which each picked up two nods. Amy Winehouse, Arcade Fire, Lil' Wayne, Bright Eyes, The Knife, Common, Klaxons, M.I.A., Spoon, CSS, The Rapture, TV on the Radio, Thom Yorke and Paramore were all nominated as well.
