Mellon Financial Corp. Among Black Professionals Magazine's Top 25 Companies for African Americans

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Black Professionals Magazine has named Mellon Financial Corporation one of its "Top 25 Companies for African Americans," a list that will appear in the magazine's Fall 2005 issue that focuses on careers. To determine its top 25, Black Professionals Magazine surveyed 500 of America's major corporations and looked at representation of African Americans in senior and middle management, as well as on corporate boards; the type of corporate diversity programs in place; and overall workforce diversity initiatives.

"We know that diversity initiatives have taken great strides in corporate America, but there is room not only for acknowledgment, but improvement. We applaud those companies that have set the standard and have become leaders in the effort."

"We value diversity at Mellon, and our formal diversity initiatives led by the Mellon Diversity Council has made terrific progress toward our goal of creating an inclusive environment in which everyone fully participates," said Mellon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Martin G.
