NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG announced today that it has joined the Industrial Affiliates Program with UCLA's Computer Science Department, becoming one of the biggest professional services firms to join the program.  KPMG data scientists will team with some of the world's leading faculty and students in computer science to engage in significant academic research.

"KPMG's relationship with UCLA's Computer Science Department reflects the firm's commitment to understanding the nexus of big data and artificial intelligence which will contribute to delivering world-class data and analytics capabilities to our clients," said Brad Fisher, partner and U.S. leader of Data & Analytics at KPMG.  "We're looking forward to the collaboration with faculty and students and to gaining access to UCLA's renowned research capabilities in computer science and big data."

KPMG will contribute to the UCLA Computer Science Department by speaking at department research seminars, participating in research reviews, sponsoring knowledge exchanges for faculty and students, and assisting in developing research efforts to explore areas of joint interest, including large-scale machine learning and data and analytics.  The firm will also have the opportunity to share its work with the Computer Science Department and interact with student groups and graduate students on a regular basis.  In addition, KPMG will be assigned a faculty liaison which will help the firm connect to research at the university.

"We look forward to collaborating with KPMG as we continue to chart the future in computing technologies and big data analytics," said Mario Gerla, Chair of the UCLA Computer Science Department. "KPMG's own expertise in these areas will help inform our students as they seek to understand real world applications of their work."
