Genpact-NIIT JV to Create Skilled Talent Pool for Business & Technology Services Industry
Genpact (NYSE:G), which manages business processes for companies around
the world, and NIIT, a leading Global Talent Development Corporation,
today announced the launch of a joint venture — NIIT Institute of Process Excellence Ltd — to address the increasing demand for skilled workers in the
business & technology services industry by providing training programs
in relevant areas. The new company will initially offer training
programs in areas such as business processes, language skills and
business communication, and intends to add additional offerings in other
areas including finance and accounting, banking, insurance and supply
chain. NIIT Institute of Process Excellence is designed for students
aspiring to build sustainable careers in the high growth business and
technology services industry.
The joint venture was announced by Mr. Pramod Bhasin, Vice
Chairman, NASSCOM and President & CEO, Genpact; Mr. Rajendra S.
Pawar, Chairman, NIIT; and Mr. Vijay K. Thadani, CEO, NIIT
here today.
Mr. Bhasin said, "This is a significant
milestone that we believe will benefit not only Genpact, but the entire
business and technology services industry. Genpact and NIIT are
committed to building a world class training organization that will
focus on developing talent and increasing employability to meet the
growing demand for a skilled workforce in the countries where we operate.” Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman, NIIT said, "Our
new initiative will build a pool of ‘global
professionals’ to fuel the growth of the ITES
industry”.
NIIT Institute of Process Excellence offers a solution to the business
and technology services industry’s growing
need for a large talent pool skilled in business process knowledge. The
industry has historically focused on voice-based processes and is now
shifting focus to business processing functions. This shift is leading
to a strong demand for professionals with business processing knowledge
in addition to voice capabilities.
NASSCOM estimates indicate that the Indian business process outsourcing,
or BPO, industry provided direct employment to 704,000 professionals in
FY 2007-08, and is projected to generate an additional 1.4 million jobs
by 2010.
Genpact and NIIT will combine their respective strengths to offer the
industry’s most comprehensive training
curriculum for existing and potential employees of business services and
technology companies. Genpact will provide industry-specific knowledge
as well as internship and job opportunities to students. NIIT will
complement this with its expertise in learning content development,
training delivery, and its capabilities in education process management.
Sharing details about the training facilities, NIIT CEO Vijay
K. Thadani said, "NIIT Institute of
Process Excellence training programs will be offered to students through
our state-of-the-art learning centers in key metros, mini metros and
Tier II towns in India, followed by China and the Philippines”.
Training facilities in Indian cities—Gurgaon,
Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune—will
be set up in the first year of operations, followed by Dalian,
Changchun, Shanghai and Xian in China, and Manila in the Philippines in
the next phase. Genpact and NIIT expect the new institute to have over
250 learning centers by 2012.
Highlights of NIIT Institute of
Process Excellence
NIIT Institute of Process Excellence will offer knowledge and training
in business processes, as well as soft skills. The new training
curriculum is designed to provide students with a sound knowledge of
business processes, basic voice training, followed by a specialization
in advanced voice training and basic finance. The course includes three
months of classroom training followed by a one month internship in an
ITES company. NIIT Institute of Process Excellence will have a blended
learning curriculum, with a good mix of computer based and instructor
led training, and will offer hands-on practice on business processing
functions and applications. Highly automated training systems, and a
pool of trainers from the industry, will be deployed to address the
training needs of students.
