Bruhn Bridge replacement in Sicamous to support safer and more efficient travels

SICAMOUS, BC, Nov. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - Investing in transportation infrastructure is critical to connecting communities and boosting trade and tourism to create good jobs and build a strong economy and middle class.

Today, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Claire Trevena, Minister of BC Transportation and Infrastructure, announced $224.5 million in joint funding for the replacement of the R. W. Bruhn Bridge along Highway 1 in Sicamous.

This project involves replacing the R. W. Bruhn Bridge, which has surpassed its useful life, with a new structure. Before the end of the year, one of two bridge options will be chosen for construction: a five-lane bridge replacement or a four-lane bridge replacement with a new Main Street bridge, both including improvements to the approach to the bridge.

Once complete, the new R.W. Bruhn Bridge will significantly improve traffic flow and driver safety, providing a reliable efficient crossing along this vital transportation route for residents, visitors and businesses for another 75 years.
