AT&T's 1-800-YellowPages Service Rolls-Out in California Powered by Apptera's MobileAd Technology
Upon the successful completion of a controlled trial, Apptera announced
today that its MobileAd Technology will power the ad serving capability
within the expansion of AT&T’s new
ad-sponsored directory assistance service. After testing the service and
gaining positive feedback from advertisers and callers in three cities
for the controlled trial, AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has officially moved to the
next phase of its product launch by making the service available to the
entire state of California. Apptera’s MobileAd
Technology provides the ad management and targeting component of the
overall solution provided by VoltDelta, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Volt Information Sciences, Inc. (NYSE:VOL). Apptera will continue to
serve targeted ads to VoltDelta’s platform,
available to landline or mobile callers when they dial 1-800-YellowPages
(1-800-935-5697).
"For the past several months, we have been
busy testing, tweaking, tuning and perfecting the ad-supported directory
assistance service during our three-city trial,”
said David S. Huntley, senior vice president of Customer Information
Services, AT&T. "Together with VoltDelta
and their partners, we’ve created a
world-class service for our customers. Apptera’s
ability to consistently serve targeted, relevant ads is a key component
of our new service. Not only is that welcomed by our customers, but it
demonstrates the quality of our service and maintains the high standards
AT&T insists on.”
With 1-800-YellowPages service, AT&T is now offering all 36 million
people in the state of California another choice, regardless of who
their current phone carrier is. This free service allows consumers to
get the same directory information in exchange for listening to short
audio ads pertinent to their search.
"Apptera’s
MobileAd Technology is a positive enhancement to the Directory
Assistance platform that we built for AT&T’s
1-800-YellowPages service,” stated Rich
Oldach, executive vice president of Volt Delta Resources, LLC. "Integrating
targeted advertisements into phone-based services offers another key
tool that our customers such as AT&T can use to customize their service
offerings and drive new sources of value to their consumers.” "AT&T is providing a great service to the
people of California,” stated Marketta
Silvera, CEO of Apptera. "This is a
win-win-win scenario. By integrating our MobileAd Technology into the
VoltDelta platform, AT&T is able to monetize free 411 calls with
relevant ads. Consumers get their information for free, and advertisers
get to promote their products and services at the exact time a caller is
searching for a similar business.” About Apptera
