ARAWC Announces New Chief Policy Officer Jeff Pettegrew, MPA, ARM
DALLAS, Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Association for Responsible Alternatives to Workers' Compensation (ARAWC), whose mission includes protecting and promoting the distinct advantages of Texas injury benefit programs, announces the appointment of Jeff Pettegrew as its Chief Policy Officer. As a renowned insurance industry thought leader, risk manager, and CEO for over 35 years specializing in workers' compensation, Pettegrew will serve as resident advocate in ARAWC's interactions with its members, media, and key stakeholders. Pettegrew will provide keen insight, research, and recommendations in a variety of workers' comp-related topics. A prolific journalist/writer, he will be actively involved in ARAWC's website communications and at member meetings. He will also represent ARAWC as a speaker or moderator at various regional and national workers' comp and insurance industry meetings and conferences.

As ITL's Chief Imagination Officer, Jeff contributed dozens of insightful and critical-thinking articles on innovative techniques, emerging technologies, and creativity in the workers' comp and risk management arena. He remains active as an ITL Advisory Board Member. Jeff previously served 10 years as the pioneering, first CEO of the California Self Insurers' Security Fund – the largest state guarantee fund covering most of the state's current and former private and nonprofit workers' compensation risks. His workers' compensation and safety management skills are nationally recognized, having served 12 years as VP of Westaff, an international staffing company with 80,000 employees working in over 40 states for over 8,000 companies in every imaginable job assignment.
Previously, he was the founding CEO for 10 years of the northern California Bay Cities Risk Management Insurance Authority, where he developed one of the nation's first fully self-insured and self-administered governmental pools to provide workers' comp, liability, property, safety and health coverage for 18 municipalities, with previous experience as the first risk manager for the cities of Walnut Creek and Sunnyvale, California. Pettegrew was honored as "Risk Manager of the Year" by Business Insurance and was the standing Chairman of the Business Insurance National Workers' Compensation & Disability Conference for nine years. He also served as co-founder and/or President of several workers' compensation and risk management associations. A popular writer, industry spokesperson, ARM instructor, speaker, and educator at insurance doctorate programs, as well as an interviewee on CNN and 60 Minutes, Pettegrew is a popular key contributor to industry conferences. He served four years as Captain in the Air Force including liaison assignments with the Pentagon and White House. Pettegrew received his B.A. at Denison University (Ohio) and M.P.A. at Cal State University, East Bay.
