Alltel Names Richard Massey as General Counsel; Frantz, Gardner, Gasaway to Assume New Roles

Alltel (NYSE: AT) has named Richard N. Massey asexecutive vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel.Massey succeeds Francis X. "Skip" Frantz, who has been named chairmanof the board of directors for the new company Alltel's wirelinebusiness is forming after a merger with VALOR Communications GroupInc. Frantz will continue in his current duties to complete regulatoryand financial filings for 2005, after which Massey will assume his newposition.

Likewise, Sharilyn Gasaway, currently Alltel's controller, willassume her previously announced duties as chief financial officerafter current CFO Jeff Gardner completes the company's 2005 financialfilings. Gardner will become president and CEO of the new wirelinecompany.

Massey has been a managing director at Stephens Inc. of LittleRock since 2000. As head of the information and communicationspractice for Stephens, Massey has led several large and complextransactions in the software, information technology andtelecommunications industries. In 2005, he has played a key role inAlltel's transactions with Western Wireless Corp., Midwest Wirelessand the spin-off of Alltel's wireline business and its merger withVALOR.

From 1998-2000, Massey was a partner with Kutak Rock, where he ledthe national mergers and acquisition practice for the firm. UnderMassey, the Kutak team completed several billion dollars in mergersand capital markets transactions.

Massey was with Little Rock's Rose Law Firm from 1984-98. Hegraduated with honors from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
