Alliant Energy Selects eMeter to Provide Meter Data Management System

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- eMeter Corporation, a provider of advanced metering information system software to electric, gas, and water utilities, announced today that it has been selected to provide its EnergyIP software for use in managing data and operations of Alliant Energy's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. Subject to regulatory approvals, Alliant Energy plans to deploy AMI meters to 1.1 million electric customers and 400 thousand natural gas customers over the next four years.

"We performed a thorough evaluation of available technology and believe that eMeter's EnergyIP software will provide the foundation that enables us to meet our aggressive near-term AMI objectives, while positioning us to offer beneficial and cost-effective advanced services and rate offerings to our customers in the future." said Barb Siehr, Alliant Energy's Vice President of Customer Service and Operations Support.

EnergyIP will be integrated with multiple legacy systems across both the Interstate Power and Light (IPL) and Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL) operating companies, including two separate CIS systems. This multi-utility integration will involve multiple data collection sources serving residential, commercial and industrial electric and natural gas customers. In addition to the traditional meter-to-cash functionality including Validation, Editing, and Estimation (VEE), EnergyIP will be implemented to support and automate the key business processes associated with AMI deployment and activation, service order and exception management, asset management, outage management and customer data presentment.

"We are thrilled by Alliant Energy's selection of eMeter, and we welcome them to our growing client base," said Cree Edwards, Chairman and CEO of eMeter. "Alliant Energy realizes the importance of not only managing data for billing, but the need to manage the entire AMI operations and maintenance over the life of the project. EnergyIP is ideally suited to these goals and we are gratified by their forward-thinking approach and confidence in us."

eMeter developed EnergyIP specifically to support the installation, operation, and management of AMI systems and the data they generate. eMeter's software is a multi-vendor AMI integration platform built upon an open Service Oriented Architecture incorporating real-time messaging technology. Furthermore, EnergyIP enables support for a wide range of growing Intelligent Grid functions, ranging from interval metering to Home Area Networks (HANs). Over time, EnergyIP will be readily integrated with Alliant Energy's emerging technology developments and initiatives.
