Akamai Profit Misses Estimates, Revenue Beats

(RTTNews) - Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM) on Tuesday reported second-quarter net earnings of $67 million or $0.37 per share compared with $73 million or $0.40 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.57 per share compared with $0.58 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were up 14% at $541 million compared with $476 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.58 per share on revenues of $540.4 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Operating margin for the quarter fell to 20% from 24% last year.

Akamai provides cloud services for delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications.
